Hick’s Law?

Do you know how HICK'S LAW helped users make better decisions? Here are a few thoughts.

When I wanted to have lunch/dinner, I guess we all have this tendency of watching something while eating. This used to happen with my friends in college, so we just decided what to watch and ended up watching an all-time favorite show, "FRIENDS."
Anyone who loves the TV show "Friends"? 😁

Now. Let’s return to the question of what Hicks' Law is ??
👉 It simply refers to the process of selecting items from a list; the larger the list, the longer it will take to make a selection.
The more you have choices the more you struggle this is the paradox of choice.
Let’s dig deep in to products like Netflix which provides Top 10 movies to watch to reduce the amount of time needed for a user to get done what they want to do.
A quote by Netflix Product Designer Glen Davis “The virtue is that users want the power and control of the product. But along with that power and control comes that … frustration that can soak up precious watch time."
Though we humans have a very advanced brain, we are still susceptible to the likes of “choice paradox “when too many options are given to choose from.

So the solution that Netflix provides to its users is either they can choose from the broad list of categories that Netflix is providing or let Netflix decide it by the ‘’Play Something ‘’ feature.
Still have a doubt, Do these features enable users to make decisions faster or do we still take our own sweet time in deciding ??? 🙈 🙈
